Rally HealthFest in Los Angeles 2016

February 4, 2016

Here’s How Health and Wellness Can Be Fun

Wow. Just wow. We knew the Rally HealthFest was going to be good, but even before the event officially kicked off at 10 am Saturday, February 27 it was clear this was a special day, starting with the huge turnout of more than 6,000 people at The Grove in Los Angeles. Folks got there early to check in for a chance to work out with Ride Along 2 star Kevin Hart, ride the beautifully designed Peloton Cycles, take free yoga and boot camp classes, and enjoy some yummy healthy snacks.

“Health doesn’t have to be boring,” Rally founder and CEO Grant Vertstandig told the huge crowd. “It’s fun. It’s enjoyable. We’re here today to celebrate what it means to be healthy and well.”

And celebrate they did, whether it was playing interactive memory games and doing giant crossword puzzles, or watching NFL players Melvin Gordon and Jarvis Landry run football training drills with Hart, who tackled the dummy with a big yell. Also popular: personalized posters that were made on the spot, and rewards that ranged from lip balm, sunglasses, and resistance bands to selfie sticks, car chargers, and portable chairs.

Hart, of course, was the star, cracking up the crowd as he surveyed the scene. “First of all, ya’ll look great,” he announced as he snapped some photos and then joked, “OK, a couple of you look stupid, but the rest of you look great.”

But probably the sweetest moment was seeing 200 Diamondback bikes lined up and ready to be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson. The bikes were assembled during the HealthFest and lots of volunteers helped put them together, including Rally Cycling team members Sara Poidevin and Catherine Ouellette, and Hart himself.

Now that’s a good way to spend the day. As one attendee posted on Instagram, “Hit up the HealthFest this morning with our good friend@kevinhart4real and got some fitness in, did some fun activities, had some healthy snacks, and left with some fitness gifts! Awesome start to the day with some awesome people!”
