Senior Data Software Engineer (Data Engineering)

Senior Data Software Engineer- 5+ years hands on Data experience already

Be part of a fast growing company whose primary focus is to improve and advance health and health care using modern technologies and end-user engagement.  Rally Health is a company of 500 employees with a major financial backing from UnitedHealth Group (with the market capitalization of $200B and the earnings of $20B).  We have partnered with several insurance companies including UHG and other large corporations for user acquisition, clinical data feeds, and monetization.  Our products are wellness, doctor search, cost transparency, benefit administration, and consumer portals.

In this role you will be enabling business intelligence, analytics, and data science by building data pipeline infrastructure and services.  

Our technologies include:

  • Kafka, Hadoop (CDH), Avro, Spark, Airflow
  • Scala, Play, Akka
  • AWS, Docker, Mesos
  • MongoDB, Postgres

Here is what you need:

5+ years hands on Data experience as well as having experience in Java or Scala already.

  • Experience in working on production Hadoop infrastructure
  • Experience in designing and developing ETL data pipelines on Hadoop
  • Command of Scala (or Java and a desire to learn Scala)
  • Ability to track down root causes and fix them in systematic ways
  • Strong computer science fundamentals
  • Analytical strategic thinking with strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Self-starter and result-oriented attitude with a strong sense of ownership
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related engineering field

And for bonus points:

  • Experience with distributed systems and application design in a SOA environment
  • Knowledge of high-scale performance and optimization tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure
